Last Post

To make this simple and sweet, I have decided to stop playing Eve-Online. As an obvious side effect, this blog will no longer be updated and this will be my final post. Many thanks to everyone I encountered and interacted with in game for the past several months, it has been a lot of fun. Many thanks especially to the Joint Strike Squad and the Python Cartel for being awesome corporations and giving me a great group of people to fly and banter with. As of right now, I have contracted or given away every ship, module and bit of ISK to my name and uninstalled Eve.

To the bloggers and sites who have linked to my blog or to all of those who have left me comments, thanks for your support. I am amazed at how many of you were actually interested in reading what I wrote and contacted me in game. As of this very moment, this blog has gotten 8,921 visits from 3,399 unique visitors and nearly 19,000 pageviews over a period of about 4 months. I never, ever expected this kind of traffic and I am really grateful to all of you for reading my silly little internet adventures.

Please check out all of the other great Eve Blogs and Pirate Blogs out there for now on for your Eve blogging fix. Fly safe everyone.

Woah, holy crap. :(

This is really sudden, and very very sad, as you're the only blogger I check every day.

I'm sure you have a good reason for doing this, hopefully.

I wanna thank you for writing so far, I've been entertained for hours reading your adventures. I do hope you come back to eve one day.

Bye Spectre, my fellow pirate ;(

Damn, kinda saddened by this but c'est la vie.

Good luck with your future endeavours and maybe, just maybe, one day we'll see you back.

Sorry to hear it.

Your blog was a big influence in my decision to try the pirating life for my short stay in EVE.

But it's only a game, and there will always be more. Good hunting.

Thanks for the kind words guys. The reason for this decision was really quite simple... I just play Eve too much. It was beginning to become a detriment to my real life responsibilities and I do not have the self-control to make myself limit play time. To remedy the situation, I gave away all my stuff and uninstalled the game to ensure that I CAN'T play. A tough choice but a necessary one in my eyes.

Oh, Spec. I'm really going to miss hearing from you. You have been a great (and quite humorous) role model for piracy in EVE. I can certainly understand your decision, and kind of admire it in a way. EVE is seductive beyond almost anything else I've ever experienced...it takes a LOT of willpower to keep it in balance with real life. I'm not always very successful in doing that myself.

Very best wishes for all good things in your life...I hope that you found Mr. Pilkins a good home.

Dammit man! :(

I you want to get back in to Eve, just give me a yell man, more than happy to fix you up with some stuff. I'll leave your char in Python Cartel just incase. Nobody ever quits eve for good :P

Good luck to you spec, been great flying with you.

P.S, I just killed Inertial's Curse... I shot him, only intended for one volley, but my guns bugged. Thought you might like to know :P

I only started reading your blog a week ago and it quickly became a favorite. I enjoy your sense of humor quite a lot! So go take a break, learn some self control, and then please come back after you get things sorted out. Laters, Who8.

GH: Hahaha... that is great. I guess you will be using the money I sent you to buy him a new one :)

Wow this was sudden.

Sorry to hear you go buddy. Make sure you set a skill to lvl 5 just in case. And please don't delete your character. You might want to come back eventually.

I wish you luck.

@ Spec: Yeah, and had to sell some loots too. The fucker had a polycarbon on his Curse. Now I'm more broke than before. Stupid glitches :(

Hey mate, I'm sorry that you're leaving us. Its been good chatting to you for the last few weeks and you've inspired me to embrace the Yarrr. I hope that real life more than makes up for not being in Eve.

Look after yourself, mate.

Wow... I'm shocked; but rl does override electronic spaceships..

At the least, I can thank you for introducing me to piracy and making eve that much more fun for me.

It was you who opened my eyes to the awesomeness of pirating.

Be safe.

NO!
you inspired me to take my stuff to aurohunen and hopefully apply to join python cartel. i have been hanging out in the python public channel recently..

today is a sad day... eve has lost one of its greatest sons.
LONG LIVE SPECTRE.

Spectre said...

Don't be discouraged by my abandonment. The Python Cartel still needs good pirates and with me gone, there are more targets that need blowing up. After all, someone needs to hang around to tell Inertial he is a dummy and to tell UberNero to stop saying "What?" all the damn time.

Ubernero said...

Not gonne lie, but this was my response after ready your eve mail.

Man, everyone knows Eve > RL!

Sad to see you go, but I know you'll be back. Everyone comes back. NOW who will be there to laugh at me when I blow myself up because I try to jump while flagged??

Noooooooo!
I'm sad to see you go, i enjoyed reading your blog. However i've experienced the same thing as you, i left Eve in 2006 for a long time, more than a year for fairly similar reasons.
But i came back eventually :).
You'll be back too sometime.

Damn shame to see you go Spectre, your blogging will be missed by all

Sorry for this belated "oh, shit..." but -- oh, shit.
EVE can be a hard game to balance with RL. It really sucked me in for the first few months before I found a way to even it all out.

Best of luck with everything. Who knows? Maybe you'll decide to come back someday.
